How it looks in real life: a cozy reading corner with a warmly lit book nook on a wooden shelf

Welcome to AnalogMaker: Mindful Book Nook & Craft Kits

AnalogMaker is a new studio built around one simple idea: the joy of making something by hand, slowly, with your own two hands. We create mindful book nook kits and DIY craft kits that turn a quiet evening into a small creative adventure.

Why we started: a counterweight to screens

If you are anything like us, most of your day happens on a screen. You scroll, you tap, you answer. It is fast, but it is also tiring. We wanted a counterweight — a hobby that asks you to slow down, focus on one tiny piece at a time, and feel the satisfaction of finishing something real.

A book nook was the perfect place to start. It is a miniature world you assemble yourself and tuck between your books on a shelf. It is small, it is beautiful, and when you switch on its little lights at night, it feels like you built a tiny world that is entirely your own.

What we make at AnalogMaker

Our collection is built around mindful, hands-on crafts. Each kit is designed to be beginner-friendly and genuinely relaxing, with pre-cut pieces, clear instructions and everything you need to finish.

Book nook kits

Our signature product. Book nook kits fit between your books on a shelf. From a lantern-lit Japanese alley to a moody dark academia library, there is a tiny world for every kind of shelf. Many include touch or LED lighting so they glow at night.

Paper & journal

We love tactile, analog making with paper too. Our junk journal kits, vintage ephemera and vision board kits are great for anyone who wants to create with their hands without a screen.

Fibre & textile

For a slower, stitch-by-stitch rhythm, we carry punch needle, embroidery and cross stitch kits. These are the kind of crafts you do with a cup of tea and a podcast, and they reward patience.

Paint, candles & gifts

We also make it easy to make with a group, from paint party and date night kits to candle making. And if you are shopping for a maker, our craft gift sets are ready to give.

How to get started (it takes less time than you think)

Most beginners are surprised at how approachable these kits are. Here is the simple path:

  1. Pick one kit that matches your mood, like a book nook or a punch needle project.
  2. Set aside 30 minutes and a clear table. No special skills or tools needed — the kit has pre-cut pieces and instructions.
  3. Work in short, unhurried sessions. Most book nooks take about 4 to 8 hours spread across a weekend.
  4. Finish, switch on the lights (or frame your work), and enjoy the feeling of making something by hand.

Our vision for the future

We are just getting started, and we want AnalogMaker to be a place that helps people build a slower, more hands-on life — one small project at a time. That means adding thoughtful new kits, writing helpful guides, and building a community of people who value the quiet joy of making.

Why slow hobbies, in 2026

AnalogMaker is built around a simple idea: the best part of a hobby is often the part with no screen. Book nooks, miniature houses, needlepoint and clay kits ask for your hands, not your notifications - and at the end you have an object, not a feed. That is the whole pitch, and it is why these kits have quietly become one of the most reliable gifts you can give someone who "has everything".

What we stock

Our range covers three families of kit. Miniature worlds - book nooks, dioramas and miniature houses - are the biggest, most detailed builds. Needle and thread - needlepoint, embroidery, cross-stitch, punch needle - are portable, quiet and endlessly repeatable. Desktop crafts - diamond painting, air-dry clay, terrariums, flower pressing and candle making - are the fastest wins, often finished in an evening. Every kit is chosen to be completed, not abandoned: pre-cut, illustrated, and sized for real evenings rather than idealised weekends.

How to pick your first kit

  • Want a weekend project with a big payoff: a book nook or miniature house.
  • Want something portable: a needlepoint or cross-stitch kit.
  • Want to finish tonight: diamond painting, a terrarium, or flower pressing.
  • Buying a gift: start with a lit book nook kit - it looks best on a shelf and needs no explanation.

Frequently asked questions

Are the kits suitable for beginners?
Yes - every kit lists a difficulty level and an assembly time; start at level one or two.

Do I need tools?
Most kits include everything except batteries and, occasionally, glue. The tools and spares section covers the rest.

How long does a book nook take?
Roughly 5-12 hours depending on the scene - fine across a few evenings.
